Pumpkin Girl

On Saturday, our good friends Matt and Heather had us over to their place. We went and picked out pumpkins to carve, then made homemade carmel candy apples. We had so much fun, the apples were amazing (thanks Heather) and the carving was fun, too. Adam decided that he wanted a pumpkin big enough to put out daughter in. So he carved some legs holes and after wedging her in there, she was sportin' her new pumpkin outfit! She only lasted about 2 minutes and was not too happy about the whole idea. I mean who really wants to be stuck inside a wet and cold pumpkin with no clothes on?! So after we took some quick pics and felt like horrible parents, Adam resumed his carving and we ate our delicious apples. It was a perfect night, and it's always so much fun to be with great friends, especially ones that don't judge you for putting your child in a pumpkin!

A Little Foodie

Solana just turned 5 months, such a big girl, literally 16 pounds!
So we recently started her on solid foods! I wanted to put it off as long as I could (I know I'm weird) because it was just easier to not have to make another meal. But when her need to eat more was interfering with her sleep schedule, I decided to add a little more to her diet.  So I skipped the rice cereal thing and went straight for the veggies. I decided I would make her food myself, it was so much fun, and cheaper!  I did my research and talked the pedi, and I decided on sweet potatoes. Mmmm.....she loved it. Anyone know of some good baby recipes?

For her first meal, I wanted daddy to be there. So I set a plate for her at the dinner table.

She was a little unsure what was going on, but ate it, and liked it. We took video, and it was so fun to have another first.

I think she would rather eat the spoon than what's on it, but whatever gets the food in her mouth.

It was fun to feed her, but I was not excited about cleaning her. Good times!

Water Baby

First time in the pool, and she loved it! It was a beautiful day on Saturday, not too hot, so we took her for a swim. She was SO mellow, and relaxed, which is the opposite of her personality, so I think we have ourselves a water lovin' baby!

At first she was really excited

Then she started to relax, so she popped in her thumb

Then she sat back and chilled for awhile, all she needed was a drink

Don't Stop Believin'—and other notes on good music

1) Lately, I have felt a strong association between lower-level office work and Journey's iconic anthem.  (Perhaps due to this scene.  And then this scene.)  Luckily for me, I do about 40 hours a week of lower-level office work, so yes, that means that my Ipod is doing Don't Stop Believin' overtime.  It seems that every time I walk into a file room, my soul just craves to hear: "Searching in the night!!!!!!!!"  An empty file room makes an awesome stage for sick 80s air guitar solos, trust me.
2) Does anyone remember this post, Adam's Top Billboard Hits?  Well people in the music industry apparently read it and took it to heart, because that song has gone big time, being played as the anthem to no less than a Steven Seagal series, a The Rock movie, and even that weird, awkward welcome party for Lebron James in Miami.  Right now, this song is hotter than Hansel circa 2001.

All I'm saying is, you heard it here first, folks.
