Spring Break 2013

Adam does not get much time off from school.  For some weird reason, they always have class on holidays, specifically the minor, but federal holidays like MLK Day or Presidents Day.  So I was a bit surprised that they actually get a spring break.  It kind of just snuck up on us (having the baby and all) so we didn't have too many plans.  I think Adam mentioned it as a side note a week beforehand.
I just wanted to at least get out of the house once a day and do something fun together.  Having such a tight schedule with a newborn and a toddler has been an adjustment and the days fly by.  But we managed to accomplish our goal.  Here are some of the highlights. Nothing special, but a big deal for us to have some family time with just the four of us.

Whatever Adam and I take in the car, she must have her equivalent.  So it's 2 babies mostly, and of course, you have to take your stroller and car seat with you when you leave the house.  Her mimicking skills are a bit intimidating.

Adam taught her how to swing with no hands.  I just love when he teaches her things and then immediately regrets it :) (See, e.g. leaning back in your chair, tossing food into your mouth, jumping on the bed)

All snuggled up for St. Patricks day.  She is so tender with him it just melts me every time.

Boston smiles!!
He is now 6 weeks old and changing everyday. He loves to smile and gets so excited about it.  He can roll over and is getting so strong.  We do a lot of tummy time,  and Solana always says, "Put him on the floor so I can play with him!" Then she sits and tells him how cute he is and asks him if he wants to play with her.  My favorite part is how she answers for him or she tells me exactly what he wants :)

Spring time is the best!!

Our Little Gymnast

Solana has been enrolled in gymnastics for the last 6 months.  She goes twice a week and loves it!! (She also does soccer twice a week, but I don't have photos of that, oops!  Probably because when we go to soccer, I'm on the field kicking and running with her!)
It has been great to watch her improve, especially since sometimes you wonder how much they pick up with the limited attention span that an almost 3 year old has.  Her coaches are great and they always do such a variety of things.  She is great at her summersaults (called rolls in little kid gymnastics parlance) and she loves the balance beam.  These are photos that Adam took of her (I have been missing her classes lately because I've been home with Boston) and so he snapped some photos of her doing some of her tricks. At the end of each six-week "semester" they do a show for the parents and get a ribbon.  If you have ever watched the show Wipeout, just picture that but with 2 and 3 year olds and you can have an idea about what a typical gymnastics class can look like.  I'm just kidding, I should give her more credit.  Solana is surprisingly good at gymnastics for her little age!

Do you see the obstacle course behind her? Yeah a mini Wipeout course - so much fun for a little person!

Little photos

These 2 little ones are my obsession!  I had so much fun doing a little photo shoot of them.  Boston was pretty tired, so he only let me shoot a couple of photos, but Solana could have her picture taken all day long.  We just played and played and I just took pictures all afternoon while Boston slept.  I don't always have such blissful afternoon, so when they happen I really sit down and enjoy them. I look at these photos and think how fast time is going.  I can't believe how old Solana looks and I feel like I just took her baby photos.  I want time to slow down! But I also love watching them grow so much that I don't.  Maybe it's my after baby hormones, but I might cry over these photos :)
Sorry to be so sappy, you know I'm not usually like this. So let's blame it on the hormones :)

And today he is ONE month old!!!

Meeting the G folks

Our first visitors were the Grandparents of course! Solana always gets excited when family comes to town.  She is spoiled with attention and love, and it makes her so happy, which in return makes us happy.  But what is better then having one child?  Having 2 to love!  It was great to see everyone and get to spend time with our new addition. Finally a grandson!

Love this generation photo.  The Prestidge Boys.

My Favorite People

Hanging out with these peeps has been a blast.  Boston is such an easy baby—he sleeps so well, and is pretty mellow.  He lets his sister smother him to death and she couldn't be any cuter with him. Adam and I have enjoyed all the down time and we have definitely been watching more TV lately. I think we are just trying to soak up all the time we get with each other while the kiddos are sleeping.  But so far the transition from 1 to 2 children has been smooth.  But that does not mean we would add a 3rd, at least not in any hurry.  We like our life just the way it is right now—low key!

I love Valentine's Day! Not because Adam and I do anything, we have never been Valentine's Day people.  But like with most things, they mean more to you when you have kids.  I wrapped up a bag full of presents and goodies for her to open and dressed her up in all the pink and hearts she could imagine. Adam made us Valentine pumpkin pancakes that were delicious (thank you Trader Joe's).
She loved it all.  And for the rest of the day, she would wrap up random gifts and come up to Adam and me and say, "Happy Valentines Day! I got you a present!"  It was so sweet.  I love that she loves giving.

I know it's blurry, but it's so precious!

Hello after-pregnancy cravings!
I LOVE snickerdoodles. Well we just love cookies in this house all together.  But I think they are also Solana's favorite.  I had her roll them in the cinnamon and sugar, and kept catching her eating it by the spoonful....Ewe. Then she would say "MMMM.." and try to attempt another bite before I would stop her.  Yeah she was pretty hyper after that.

This girl LOVES hugs!!

The Hospital Vacay

The hospital wasn't exactly a vacation, but it was nice.  (Definitely better than our first hospital stay in San Antonio.)  The food was decent, the room we stayed in was really big. And I can't complain about the room service.  The best part was having Solana there to keep us all entertained. It was fun to just hang out as a family with no where to go and have all your meals brought in.  We only live 5 minutes from the hospital so that is also convenient.
Here are the highlights.

Solana meeting her little brother for the first time.  She was adorable with him!

This balloon kept her entertained for hours :)

Our first family photo with the four of us!

Checking out and ready to go.
