Outer Banks NC

Our fabulous friends recently invited us out to their beach rental in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Adam and I have always wanted to go and it was perfect to have such great friends to venture out with.  Sadly we could only stay 1 night, and also - it was freezing! (That lingering winter continues to give...) But we had a blast anyway. Playing on the beach is always fun no matter what.

The first thing we did when we got there was play on the sand. It was so cold and windy, but the kids didn't seem to mind.  Honestly, I don't know how they did it - Adam and I were FREEZING!!!  But I guess when you're a little kid, and you're collecting sea shells and playing in the sand, you just get in a zone and don't even notice the biting cold wind.

I went out to feel the water and me feet were definitely numb. Brrrrr…..

Solana went on an crazy shell hunting adventure. It was so fun to witness her excitement.

Miniature golfing as a family for the first time.

Solana LOVED it! And she was surprisingly good at it!  We were the only ones there, so we breezed through it pretty fast with all of us.

Boston loved it too. Every new hole he would walk up and put everyone's ball in to the hole. haha

Adam and Chris and his son Andon.  We stayed only 5 minutes from Kill Devil Hills, and so we went and visited the Wright Brothers museum and saw where they took their first flight!

Those are the replicas of the first airplanes flown by the Wright Brothers!

It was pouring rain, so Boston and I stayed in the car while Adam and Solana and Chris and Andon hiked to the top of the hill where the first flight departed from.  Here, Solana is striking the "airplane" pose.

Flying high!

One more trip out the beach before we left.  Not pictured - Adam, Chris, and Peter all did a polar plunge and jumped into the freezing ocean!!!

Solana had so much fun playing with Trevin - we were so excited she had friends to play with.

The group before we took off. We hope to do it again next year. We will fly out from the city to hang out with this group anytime!

And March Marches On

March was one fabulous month! I feel like it was a serious "mellow out" month. We didn't have any holidays or birthdays or trips or major events and we just caught up on house stuff and ventured out on some fun activities when the weather would randomly get warmer - which was a pretty rare event in this cold and lingering winter.

His birthday present finally arrived undamaged. He loves it so much, and plays faithfully on it everyday.

This kid will put on anyone's clothes if he can reach them.  Doesn't matter what it is!

My first of many pillows to arrive on our new sofa. I love C.Wonder and all it offers, but this little pillow is my favorite!

I think it was only warm for 2 days, or warm enough to actually want to play outside. CW is always the best place to take it easy.  It is like our backyard is a perfectly maintained historic park!
And boy does our little man love to play soccer.  He has gotten really good at kicking and dribbling.

I tried for a family shot, but when all you get is a girl with a feather in her head, you take it.

Solana was never a climber, but Boston can't seem to ever be high enough. He is so strong and loves to climb everywhere!!

We sold our dining room table, so the playroom extended out into the open dining area. Solana put on lots of shows and took over this area quite often.

Another child with another shoe obsession :)

Our little artist. She just sits everyday and draws for hours. She makes books, paints, colors, and writes all day long. It's a fun new part of her she has discovered.

I wish I had more March days because it was one easy, fun month!
