"In my next thirty years..."

Well I made it to 30!
Is it me, or does it seem like how many birthdays you have has no bearing on your actual age? To me I still feel 21, so I'm either a) not maturing b) avoiding reality. But either way I was happy to bring on the next decade of my life. A couple days before my birthday, Adam says to me, "what was the best part of your twenties?" (I think he was trying to help me stay positive so I didn't have a breakdown on my birthday) It was a great question, and one that led to a long list of all the blessings I have enjoyed. He then asked "What do you want to accomplish in your thirties?" Which led to lots of goal-setting and big dreams. It was then that I was so excited to take on this new phase of my life. My birthday weekend was perfect, we headed down to San Diego for a quick weekend getaway.

Day one: Taking the boat out. A first for Solana, and she liked it!

Addie wanted to make sure Solana's face was in the picture, lol.

So the girls decided to set up camp in the cabin below and have a picnic.

After the picnic they wanted to feel the ocean breeze in their hair, for Millie the Doll as well, and Addie was so concerned for her safety that she even put the life jacket on her. Oh I love how kids think :)

Hanging out on the deck, the weather was perfect, oh wait....it always is in San Diego!

She thought she was big enough to walk on the boat alone

Having sisters is the best. Especially ones I'm so close to, we always have so much fun and laugh a lot!

While the guys cleaned the boat, the girls decided to climb into the bucket on wheels and play. then we pushed them back to the car in them. I'm pretty sure they felt like princess's on a throne.

Day two: Coronado island

This is one of my favorite photos that I snapped. She just stood there like she was in heaven. She LOVED LOVED LOVED the beach!!! Someday we will be back to live by the beach....someday

Who doesn't want a giant hole to play in at the beach?

A day at the beach isn't complete without a nap. Digging in the sand is exhausting!

Solana even stopped for awhile to cuddle with mama and dada. Love those big hugs!

Day 3: My birthday, and fireworks!

We turned off all the lights at Britt and Fred's place, and watched them shoot off from 4 locations!! It was incredible! Plus watching fireworks with my Dad always makes me feel like a kid again.

The best view!

Solana was glued to the window the whole time, I have never seen her so focused. Then my dad started doing his firework hollering, and Solana wanted in on that action. So she begs me to take her to my dad and he holds her and after he shouts after a firework goes off, then Solana copies his sound each time, they had so much fun watching fireworks and it made my day to see Solana so happy.

Before leaving we had to grab a couple girl shots, we don't know when they will be together again.

This little angel just makes me smile, she is a doll!

A proud Grandpa. Love you Dad.
(Solana is obviously up way too late in this picture, 11 pm Cali time means 1am Texas time!)

Red faces, and big smiles

Thank you to my incredible family for making my birthday one of the bests yet.
The highlight of our trip was my Dad meeting Solana for the first time. It has been way too long since we were in California. But it all worked out because they had so much fun together!!!

Sadly, my only regret is not having the trip be longer so that we could see friends, but hopefully we wont wait too long to return :)
