First Christmas!

This Christmas season was especially difficult and different this year. But on Christmas Eve it turned into one of the best Christmases we have ever had together. We couldn't have asked for a better first Christmas with our little one. Merry Christmas!!

She NEVER sleeps in our bed, but I guess she was just so excited for Santa, that she woke up at 5:30! So we brought her back to bed with us until we had to get her up at 7:30. It was so much fun to wake up Christmas morning.

Yay, a LAPTOP!

"mmmm....paper"

Having a baby is like having a puppy, she loves to chew on everything, especially SHOES!

I love this face!

Now just bring on the new year!

Tree-a-ling

We love picking out a Christmas tree, but apparently Solana does not. She was not a happy camper.  I guess that is what happens when we keep her up past her bedtime.  But once we got it all set up, she had so much fun playing in it

"Did we pick a tree yet? Cause I'm overt this tree pickin' business."

"Daddy please don't sit me here, it's prickly."

Adam busts out this sweater every year for Christmas stuff--I tell him it only belongs at an ugly sweater party. But he loves it (except he tells me he loves it while laughing, so deep down I know he agrees with me)  Please tell me I'm right?

 Yay, a quick smile.

"Hmmm....which one do I eat next?"

The skinny on the chubster

No....this isn't a post about one of us, though we have enjoyed all the goodies this season. But since she is 7 months TODAY, I wanted to catch up on all she is doing. I thought I would be excited when she started crawling, but it's exhausting! It was so much easier when I could leave her somewhere and know she would be there when I returned. The developmental milestones are fun, but they also come with more responsibility.  Now she is on the go, and she loves to pull herself up on anything, all she wants to do is climb! She has so many accidents, and we feel like we can't watch her close enough, she is into everything! On top of all the moving, she also got her first tooth(!) and is still getting her second, so she no longer sleeping through the night.  But even with all the changes, we are having so much fun watching her personality come out—all the giggles, smiles, playfulness, and even a stubborn side.  It has been very eventful since she turned 6 months, so I hope 7 brings even more excitement.

Sportin' a new kind of ponytail

She loves getting into the fun jewelry, and anything else for that matter.

I had to dress her up one last time, since she is barely fitting into her skirt. Can you really ever have too many photos?

Dickens on Main

So since we are having a Christmas without snow this year, we decided that we would do some extra Christmas-y type things to get us in the spirit. We heard about an event called Dickens on Main, in downtown Boerne. It's a small town a ways out of San Antonio, and we lived there when we first got married. We love this town, and it was fun to be out at night when all the shops stay open late, and everyone dresses up. Except it was freezing!! So yes, it does get cold in Texas.

The had these snow machines on the street, but it was actually just soap. But we snagged a great picture anyway so that we can pretend.

Grammy with Solana near the petting zoo.

She actually was pretty miserable the whole night. It was past her bedtime, and it was cold, and she was starting to teeth. Not a pretty combo

Livie is our youngest aunt of the family, and Solana always loves playing with her. We know they will be best buddies.

Floreeda!

Is there really any other kind of vacation than a beach vacation? I mean sure, traveling through Europe and taking in all the history has its perks, but seriously, nothing is as great as soaking up some sun and relaxing on the beach. With all that said, the Ross clan headed down to the Florida Panhandle. It wasn't the warmest, but we still enjoyed the sun, and even bared the cool water on our last day together. So after fun 5 days, and a house full of 13 people, we have lots of great pictures, fun stories and great memories.
Here are some highlights:

Mom and me chillin' on the balcony, enjoying the great view...

...Cause this was the view!!

We went to the local seafood festival, where they had a carnival as well. Yes I think carnivals are creepy, but Adam actually won a prize with his mad baller skillz, and we went on our first ride together. We had fun.

Brittany's birthday is actually TODAY! but we surprised her and celebrated it early while we were all together. Oh and I want Addie's curls!

A perfect day at the beach is when your family is the only one on it.

Gigi, Brooke, and new mama Carol with her sweet baby Alec.
She is sportin' the cutest bikini ever at only 8 weeks old! I think her and Solana with be best beach friends.

Logan sporting the taliban look.

Gigi soaking up the sun with Solana. Like mother like daughter, like granddaughter.

I think she is a beach girl, which means my heart is singing!

Adam took her into the ocean, she had a blast.
Maybe one day we can return to good ol' Cali, so she can be  near the beach all the time.

Mom, Britt, Brooke, Solana, and me. Going to the local park

 First time on a slide.

So Adam and Daniel each ate a 72 oz. steak in under an hour.  It was an incredible accomplishment of food eating!  72 oz is 4.5 pounds, and each steak was about the size of a phone book, except bigger, thicker, and rarer!

A Halloween Cub

For Solana's first Halloween, we decided to dress her in a costume that fit her personality, so here is our little lion cub.

Raaaarrrrrr!!!!

Pumpkin Girl

On Saturday, our good friends Matt and Heather had us over to their place. We went and picked out pumpkins to carve, then made homemade carmel candy apples. We had so much fun, the apples were amazing (thanks Heather) and the carving was fun, too. Adam decided that he wanted a pumpkin big enough to put out daughter in. So he carved some legs holes and after wedging her in there, she was sportin' her new pumpkin outfit! She only lasted about 2 minutes and was not too happy about the whole idea. I mean who really wants to be stuck inside a wet and cold pumpkin with no clothes on?! So after we took some quick pics and felt like horrible parents, Adam resumed his carving and we ate our delicious apples. It was a perfect night, and it's always so much fun to be with great friends, especially ones that don't judge you for putting your child in a pumpkin!
