The Best of May

May has come and gone, and it was one of the busiest months of my life. But it was also one of the most fun!
The highlights:
Adam finally finished law school and graduated!
We said goodbye to our twin couple, Peter and Ashley Dansie (which was not a good thing, we miss them so much!)
Adam's siblings flew out for graduation and it was a miracle they both made it. (serious weather and health complications)
Solana turned 4!
My mom came out for 12 days
My sister Brittany her niece Addie surprised us with a visit!
Solana finished her first year of preschool
Adam started bar study (this was not a highlight, more like a bad storm)

But we survived and were so happy for the excitement and changes that took place. Let the good times roll and let summer begin.

We sadly had to say goodbye to Ashley. She is the most angelic person I have ever known, and we all miss her so much. She and her husband Peter were our law school couple twins.

Our angel Ashley is in the bottom middle. Love her!!!!!
Thank you Sarah for taking the photo, and thank you Ashley for bringing your camera.

Adam finished school so we had lots of time to hang out at the park. Zip lines are always a good way to celebrate accomplishing something.  Adam could only watch the kids do it for so long before he had to jump in.

No-fear-Boston!

He would climb to the sky if we let him. Again, no fear!

I think he is growing out of his playpen….

I caught them holding hands while watching T.V. and I'm so happy I grabbed a photo. Especially because they are not always so loving.

I could stare at this adorable photo all day long. This was her end of year school photo and I love it!

She finished up another semester of ballet, and she is really improving.

They got to dress us as their favorite storybook character for school one day, so of course she was Pinkalicious.

Her last photo at age 3. And look at those painted nails and curlers! She's all girl.

Solana's 4th Birthday

Solana turns 4!!!!!!!!
I know in the big picture of life, 4 can seem so young, and it is, but to a Mom, and her being my first, she seems so old and big! And I don't want her growing up so fast. I am loving every moment of this girl's life. Each new year is so much fun. And each year (especially when you're young) brings so many changes and developmental milestones.
Accomplishments, milestones, and all around fun things she loves as she turns 4:
She can write all her letters!
Read simple books!
Do math and she loves it!
Just graduated from her first year of preschool!
She can spell her name, CheyAnn, Adam, and I Love You all from memory.
She loves drawing and writing letters, and doing anything art related.
She is also a big builder, she loves to build structures (especially bridges and arches) all the time with her blocks and legos.
Her favorite songs right now are EFY's greatest hits, Tusk by Fleetwood Mac ("Tusk!"), and ABC by Jackson Five.

For her birthday she wanted a "Rainbow Flower Party." So I tried to do all she had requested. This girls loves all the colors, but mainly yellow and pink. And she loves all things girly. She loves ruffles, flowers, petals, and all things beautiful. (those are her words)
Her garden party was so fun. We played games like duck duck goose, pass the present, and freeze dance. She said is was the best birthday ever, and that is all we wanted her to have.

4!!!!!!!

Her birthday was on a school day so we got to go in to her class and read her favorite book and bring in some cupcakes. It was so fun to watch Adam read the class and sing Pete the Cate, and have Solana so excited to have us there.

Solana went around her class and each child put a wishing seed in her bag and told her a wish they had for her for her birthday, it was such a cute idea.

Everyone sang happy birthday. the cha cha cha version.

Generation photo on her birthday.

The school crew.

Freshly picked flowers from Solana. She is obsessed with flowers and I love it!

Solana helped me put together her tissue flowers. She was very particular on where I placed them and then she wanted me to add stems so some of them. It was actually very fun to have a partner in crime in the party decorating committee.  I know Adam was relieved to have someone else stand in for him.

Oh I loved her cake. My mom and I mixed rainbow colors forever, but it turned out great. I actually find cake decorating super relaxing, I know I'm so weird!  I should probably get a real hobby…

My mom's great creation. They turned out so cute. Carrot and cucumber flowers.

Rainbow fruit kabobs.  Adam happily did that.

Don't touch those cake pops yet, birthday girl.

Her friends at school made her a sign :)

It was so fun to have Grammy come up for her party. It always means so much to have her visit!

haha, same sibling pose.

So happy her cousin surprised her. Truly the best ever!  I was prepping for the party, when we saw someone who looked like Brittany walking up to our door, and my mom and I freaked out with giddy surprise!  What an awesome fun surprise from Britt!!!

Sharing their grandma

If Boston could play "Where's Boston?" all day every day, he would be the happiest boy in the world. Brittany is winning his heart over.

Pure joy

and pure fun.

Let the party begin.

Pass the present

Look at all those cute party girls. So much cuteness!

Ya know, just chillin' by the dessert table with her friends.

Freeze dance. The best was all of them singing Frozen, "Let It Go" in unison at full volume. Adam said it felt like being at a concert.  They just went crazy when that song came on, and everyone just belted it! Best moment ever!

Awe!!

Addie was so good at getting Boston to laugh. He loves getting to know his cousin too.

Loving some squinkies from Grammy.

Let the competition begin…who hippo is hungry?!

Seriously when did this perfect angel turn 4! And can I please slow down time. We are so much fun, and each new phase is so exciting. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does and I love it. So here is to another great year!

Family planned and surprised arrives!

Once a year my mom comes out for a visit! And this was especially nice because she came at a perfect time of year. In the past she visited in August (crazy hot and humid), and then after that it was February (freezing cold!), so now the weather was just right! It was nice to get outside and enjoy the warm (but no too hot) weather.
She was here for 12 fabulous days! She was here to enjoy Solanas 4th birthday, play in the sun, go shopping, and spoil us all (especially the kiddos).
On top of Solana's fabulous birthday, we had the best surprise we could ever ask for. Brittany and Addie showed up for Solana's birthday party!!! They flew out from San Diego and stayed for a couple of days. We we all shocked, and she wins for the best surprise ever!  (I cried I was so happy) It was so fun to have them here as well, and we couldn't get over how well Solana and Addie played together. One afternoon we left to go shopping while Bostie was sleeping. Adam said he didn't hear a peep from the girls for hours! They were perfect besties! I so wish I lived closer to family, but having great visits like these makes up for some of it.  Solana keeps reminding us that if she moves with us to NYC then we will move to California after that (she cries often that we are not moving by her cousins). Fingers crossed, but no promises.

Gigi loves flowers just as much as Solana does. So she taught her all about planting all different kinds of flowers and how to take care of them (she actually taught me too!)

Singing songs in the primary book together. Gigi has them all memorized and was teaching them to her, and Solana was making up her own words as well. So sweet!

Mom snagged a "great" photo of me decorating for the party the night before. It's a dangerous job…:)

Pool time is a must this time of year.

Besties for life! (we just need Alec and Piper…)

We took on the challenge...

And so did they.

Yorktown beach at its best!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!

Unlike Solana, Boston usually takes a little bit of time to warm up to the water and sand.  But once he gets comfortable, he gets really happy.

They fought over sand holes for a while, but eventually they each had their own. phew!

Bakers Crust dinner with mom. I don't know the last time we did that with just the two of us. So much fun!

He finally has a twin! Bostie's blue eyed blond hair, just like his Grandma!

Giggles at its best.

Solana took this one, and its so beautiful!

And she took this one. Great job Solana! She captured the happiness perfectly!
