The Birthday Party

Adam had a great birthday on Feb 8th, and having Cynthia out for the weekend was a wonderful treat. We ate great food, did some shopping and a went to a movie. On Sunday we made dinner for the party and I even baked my first chocolate cake from scratch, it was so good! Then we just partied with friends and he even tried out the new fire pit, and eventually Adam and Matt got it going. We stayed up late with Cynthia and had a great time, then we got up early to head to her hotel for breakfast. It was hard to say goodbye, but we we were just happy she came out. Adam said it was one of his best birthdays. Now we are only 3 years apart in age till July.

Safari Club International Weekend - ARRRRRR!!!!!!

Really cool lion mounts.  I'm planning on seeing this in my living room.

And CheyAnn is planning on having this chair in our living room... I'll shoot the zebra

Although extremely large and intimidating, this bear was actually quite friendly in person.

This moose made me feel very small.  But I would still shoot it.

My Dad, Aaron, and I went to the Safari Club International convention in Reno.  The word 'safari' is a Swahili word that comes from the Arabic word 'safar' which means journey.  Heavy trade between Arabs and East Africans brought many Arabic words into the Swahili language.
Anyway...
Etymology aside, it was extremely sweet.  An enormous convention center filled with (dead) animals, ridiculously expensive guns, and hunters and outfitters from all over the world.  It was pretty much the greatest safari adventure you could possibly have without a) leaving the US or b) killing something.
I had a great time with Dad and Aaron and it has gotten me even more pumped for a lifetime of safaris and adventures and lions in my living room.
