Everyone told us to get out of the city in January or February (because it gets really cold and depressing). So we booked our trip to the opposite of winter misery…Southern California! The timing was almost perfect. We ended up leaving early due to a incoming winter storm (hyped as potentially the most snowfall in the HISTORY of New York City) and flights being cancelled. So, with a half day's notice, I hurried to pack us all up and barely made it out before they were to ground remaining flights...phew!
We ended up staying 15 warm, glorious days! I'm sure we overstayed our welcome, but we soaked it all up knowing what we were coming back to in the future.
Also I wanted to say a big thank you to my Mom for having us take over her place and accommodating us on every level. She is the hostess with the mostest!
When our flight got changed we ended up not having a direct flight. So we had a long 3 hour layover, plus time change. And the kiddos were perfect the whole way! Blessings!!!!!!!!
The first day was spent getting pedicures and hanging out in the hot sun at the park. It was bliss!
We headed over the petting farm in San Juan Capistrano. The kids had a blast. Corn, animals, trains, and a playground.
Her first time riding a horse! She was beyond excited. I'm pretty sure she knows she's a Texas girl at heart because she is all country.
We headed down to San Diego to see Britt and the family. Solana was thrilled to have time with her cousins this trip.

Play-do and princesses.
She still loves her daddy's shoes.
The pool and sun became our closest friend while we were there. And for obvious reasons.
Pale city skin soaking up the warmth.
Little beauties Alec and Solana!
A little Thrifty ice cream is always good for the soul. I used to go all the time as a kid, so it was fun to take Solana. Good ol' downtown SJC
Had a blast at the Land of Nod store. The kids could have stayed all day.
Chasing the "ducks".
The playground on the beach was wonderful.

The trip was the best we could have had.
Wonderful weather, beaches, pools, lots of mexican food, movies, and excellent family time!
